Grant Hill tells of his fatal illnesses

Injuries and illness are any athlete’s worst nightmare. Unfortunately, the 7-time All-Star had to deal with each of them, which damaged his career. Hill testified about his experience with the disease. Hill suffered from a potentially fatal MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infection.. This seemed to be a life-threatening situation.

In an interview with BleacherReport, Hill said “I had a MRSA infection on my ankle, at the time I had never heard of MRSA. I didn’t know much about it.” He further added, “It really scared me. I am lucky to be able to sit here now and talk to you about it.”According to a report in 2017, more than 20,000 people died from MRSA in the United States.

Known as a selfless team player, Hill always contributes more to the team. After being diagnosed with MRSA, he was shocked to see such low awareness about this deadly disease. Hill said, “As an athlete and primary, I have kids in school, and I think it’s important to educate and inform.”
