Every year there are a few new food trends that take the world by storm.

Remember last year’s obsession with pesto eggs? Or this time whipped coffee become a viral sensation? Well, 2022 was no exception.

This week, Google revealed its The year in researchan annual report that includes the most trending terms in various categories (for example, Wordle was the most trending game and Yellowstone lists the top 10 trending TV shows). So, when it comes to the top trending recipe searches of 2022, we were intrigued.

Like never before, people were looking TikTok Recipes, comfort food classics, and even recipes inspired by TV shows. So what were the trendiest recipes of the year?

Before I list them all for you, it’s important to note that these aren’t just the most searched recipes (which usually end up being all-time favorites like macaroni and cheese). Instead, the data comes from trending searches, or searches that had the biggest spike this year compared to last year. Let’s take a look:

Surprised? U.S. too! Turns out the hottest recipe for 2022 was “sugo,” which is an authentic tomato sauce that’s often used as a base for lasagna Where pizza. (Looks like we’re gonna do Italian for dinner tonight!)

Other notable recipes that made the list are Cincinnati Chili (a Midwestern favorite that combines chili, cheese, and spaghetti), Chicken Marry Me (a chicken recipe sure to get you on a second date), and quick pancakes (because who doesn’t love a good Pancake recipe? 😋).
