If you’re interested in adding a new credit card to your wallet, whether it’s to increase your purchasing power or earn a valuable welcome bonus, but want to be able to start spending right away, consider applying for a card with “instant” access to the number. This means that once approved, you can request that card details be sent to you immediately instead of having to wait for your new card to appear in the mail.

One might assume that a Walmart Rewards™ or Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card comes with their own subscription service for free as part of being a card member. However, this is not the case.
If you’re looking for Walmart+ benefits, consider applying for the Platinum Card from American Express. When you sign up, you get a statement credit for your Walmart+ monthly membership fee ($12.95 + applicable taxes) when you use your Platinum Card to pay. The card comes with a long list of other benefits for luxury travel, shopping, and more. Plus Ups are excluded.
If you’re a current undergraduate student, you can qualify for a variety of student credit cards, including the Deserve® EDU Mastercard for Students – which pays you back up to $59 for life after you sign up for an Amazon Prime Student subscription and spend $500 on eligible purchases at The first three billing cycles.
If you plan to make one or more expensive purchases in the last days of the shopping season, consider getting a credit card with purchase protection. This is a free policy that covers many items from theft or damage in the first 90 days after purchase, up to a certain dollar amount.
If you’re still scrambling for holiday gifts, you might want to consider one of the credit card benefits mentioned above to speed up last-minute purchases.
However, before making any financial decisions, especially about holidays, be sure to refer to income. The holidays can be blissful, but starting the new year with credit card debt isn’t a great feeling.
